Blazing Color

Cuttingswarf Vineyard

Blazing Color ©Loralee Chapleau 14×18

Once again, I was inspired by the autumn light hitting the changing foliage. This Napa vineyard seems to have fared fairly well in spite of the drought that is plaguing some of it’s neighbors.

In this painting I attempted to achieve a more abstract design. I like the play of the warm, sunlit grapevine leaves with the cool purple shadows. The energy, motion, and light gave me the feeling that the vineyard was set ablaze in color.
